“God? Thank you for bringing me here, even amid the circumstances that perpetuated my decision.”

What a prayer. A very brave prayer. To be able to thank God amid all circumstances. This is something I often wish I was brave enough to do every day. Even though I often miss the mark, it is still an encouragement to me to read of others that step up to that kind of bravery, even if they are a fictional character in a book. Today my inspiration of brave faith comes in the form of an exceptional fiction character named Dr. Cynthia Myers.

I recently received an ARC of Hallee Bridgeman’s newest upcoming release under Revell Publishing titled Honor Bound. I would like to thank the publisher and the author for the gifted copy, for after reading the prequel, Love in Any Language, I was excited for the opportunity to review the next installment of this series. I anticipated another well-crafted story from this author.

I was not disappointed.

I first must mention it was a privilege to read something so honorably written. Her experience with military life has perfected her perspective on the ups and downs of a world many do not understand or cherish. She salutes the soldiers and their families with her respectful words and enlightens readers to the struggles and joys of military life through the experiences of Dr. Cynthia Myers and United States Army Captain Rick Norton.

In a brilliantly written story that abounds with unexpected twists and turns, she captures the ongoing battle for good to triumph over evil. I have been a long-time fan of spy and action books and films, but I have always struggled with the language and graphic scenes produced for the reader’s shock and awe. It was a pleasure and a relief to find a faith-based, cleanly written, action-packed story that still gave a genuine description of the give and take of love and war.

Readers can connect with the realistic struggle of two human hearts torn between commitment and duty as they root for Cynthia and Rick on and off the battlefield. The storyline holds the reader’s attention as the characters navigate the jungles of Africa and the jungles of politics, trying to sidestep the mines that strain a growing relationship. This intense story becomes even more magnificent when you see the characters standing their ground with brave faith and praying brave prayers throughout multiple life-changing trials. You do not want to miss this one.

This perfect read for all ages is Book One of the Love and Honor series and releases on September 6th, 2022 and will be treasure to anyone looking for a love story with adventure. You Can’t Override the Heart

It may seem odd to seek peace by moving to a war-torn African country, but for medical missionary Dr. Cynthia Myers, it provided a way to escape a shallow life of unearned wealth, a philandering fiancé, and a father now square in the public eye as vice president of the United States. At least here she knows her work and life have meaning. But all that is thrown into chaos when she fails to save the life of a local warlord’s mortally wounded son.

As part of the Army Special Forces “A-Team” on a mission to capture and subdue the warlord, Captain Rick Norton is compelled to use deadly force to save Cynthia’s life. Enraged at the violence she witnessed and riddled with guilt that men died because of her, Cynthia tries to hold on to her anger–but an unwanted attraction is taking hold.

With two members of his team badly injured and rebels in hot pursuit, Rick will have to draw upon all his strength and cunning to get her out alive . . . because he’s beginning to think they just might overcome their differences and be able to make a life together.
