Sign of the Time

It Takes a Village . . .

Who would have ever thought to make an ending grand,
By using the unfamiliar streamed across the land,
Surprise the group with a start, and curiosity was born,
This is the first time I’d ever heard the great alpenhorn.

My eyes jumped back to the screen that I absently streamed,
My curiosity peaked, awoke from a dream.
What was that noise out of blue that just occurred?
I could not picture of what I just heard.

She offers the answer with smile and with giggle,
Sorry to startle or make you wiggle.
She reveals as she tells of the sound heard as cue,
I thought I would just try something new.

As a startle does go it took me a minute,
But the more often I heard the more often I wished it,
To wait for the signal that the crew would assemble,
After taking time to create something fantastic and nimble.

She calls us back to discuss, support, learn, and grow,
With the now gentle sound of the alps and the snow,
The first time I heard it, my heart was aflutter,
But now I would accept nothing else and no other.

It has become symbolic of rest and time for myself,
It is the sign that today I tried if nothing else,
Becoming familiar and warm and specially borne,
I have come to adore this great alpenhorn.

I will for lifelong cherish for what that sound stands,
A moment of life I take back from this dry weary land.

Just a Thought

This 250 word poem was another product of the group I wrote with that issued the Friday writing challenges. When this was written, I had only begun to claim my love for writing as a true career, and was still in the throws of saying it out loud, much less making time for it every day.

But showing up with these people to push through the barriers every week was my step in the right direction. For that and so much more, I will cherish every moment they gave me, including the first time I heard this lovely sound.

Looking for more stories and adventures? No matter which way you go, I pray the next set of words will be exactly what your heart was looking for.

Beyond Words

There are people in this world that do unspeakable things, stealing the voices of those who can never forget. We must keep shining light for those who can\'t speak.

Just Kidding

Being a parent is tough sometimes. What better way to get through it than to find the humor in the middle of it all.

Wildfires

We all feel the heat. We are living in times of exhaustion at every turn from the non-stop flames we battle. What can we do to rise above it?

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
