Remember This

Choose to remember . . .

You have words; you have truth; you have life; you have light.
Then why, my friend, do you continue to fight?
A battle every day that you continue to choose.
A battle every day that you continue to lose.

When you have been given a purpose, a point, a path of your own,
A direction, a hope, a calling you’ve been shown.
Yet distraction and worry and busy seek you out.
Until you’re tired and broken and just want to shout.

When frustration, exhaustion, and fear is let in,
The enemy cheers “AHA! I shall win!”
But you have a calling and plan in you still,
For good things and great things are all in His will.

So, grab for your freedom from this life you have spoken.
Remember, He is here, promise unbroken.
You still have a choice to be all at your best.
You must grasp on to the good and leave all the rest.

You do not need these chains to define you and see.
You only must choose it for you already are free.
Just look at His light shining deep down in you.
This mission, this purpose, His love—all of it true.

But only you can decide to walk in that light,
Or you can stay here and keep up this horrible fight.
Remember your choice and remember the way,
And know this battle to choose will be fought every day.

It is time to get rid of all that does not belong,
Keep the rest close by and cherish your song,
All you must do is sing of hope that is near,
All you must do is choose faith over fear.

Just a Thought

These words are certainly not new to me. This was a 2020 creation—one of many poems that surfaced during the extended time home during a global pandemic. Many creative people found the isolation to prove to be a benefit when it came to producing new material. This idea came to me as a need to hear my own reminder that pursuing purpose is a daily choice that we must remember to make again and again.

Buried No More

I closed my eyes. Just take a deep breath. Just do the next thing. One foot in front of the other.

Take It and Leave it

The chase for perfection in everything around me continues. But I must remember to take only what is mine to take.

Rundown to Restored

Feeling rundown? What is your go-to habit when you are worn out? Does that habit restore you or leave you as you were?

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
